?2 / 純愛 セルフライナーノーツ ユウテラスの新しんぐる「２/ 純愛)」は、ぼくらが5人と1匹の新体制になって初めての新しんぐるだ。まずは無事完成、そして無事に君に手渡せることを嬉しく想います。うん。
『5人と1匹、みんなが全部聴こえる』に拘った今回のレコーディングは楽しいチャレンジが沢山詰め込まれてる。例えば9年ぶりの新あるばむ『風立ちぬ』や「心中」もそう。ユウテラスのレコーディングはプロトゥールズ(デジタル録音ソフト)を使ってはいるけれど、ビートルズの時代と殆ど同じオーガニックでアナログな録音方法。音を設定したら後はひたすら弾いて歌うだけ(笑) 各人の演奏も、歌も音程を直したりの修正はしない。それがぼくらの楽しい(おとろしい笑)ルール。ブスも可愛いもカッコイイもハゲもおデブも、そのままポートレイトとして記録して、今のぼくらをまんま、きみに手渡すスタイル。うん。エンジニア速水さんとぼくが設計図を創って、まぁちゃん(原昌和)がずっと張り付きで監修してくれてるのに、ぼくが頑固に拘りすぎてごねる笑(いつもごめん。。) そんないつもの流れをベースに、めいまる、上隼人、おねーちゃんがどんどんアイデアを投げ込んでくる(笑) 5人と1匹の素敵な(！？)チームワークも程よく熟成されてきた。今回の2曲はそんなぼくたちの第二楽章の始まり、その成果を存分に体感して貰えると想うんだ。 そんな今回のレコーディング。

ぼくのわがままな希望で、まぁちゃんはthe band apartで培ってきた「これぞまぁちゃ ん！」なベースのスタイルを基盤にして「2」を弾いてくれたんだ。中盤で聴けるハーモニーも美しい。いつも世界でまぁちゃんにしか表現出来ない世界。毎度毎度、忘れられないなぁと想ってしまう。

めいまるはユウテラス初登場のエレピをプレイしてるんやけど実は彼女たちエレピ名人。
ユウテラス定番、ぼくとの並走ハーモニーも、やっぱ彼女たちは声が特徴的なんだなぁとか、賛美歌みたいなの賛美歌は彼女たちの演奏やハーモニーあってこそなんだなって再確認。どらむの おねーちゃん(阿部佳小利)がワンテイクで決めてしまったのに驚きすぎて顎が外れたけど、「上手くなったなぁ」と速水さんも思わず一言。すごく練習好きな人。ドラムがすっごい大好きなんだろなって溢れ返す気持ちまで聴けるテイクになってる。
上くんも初めての録音には聴こえないプレイで正直びっくり。けど彼はなんだかんだでいつも落ち着いてて決める時は決めてくれる。すっごい頼りになる。ギタリストじゃなかった筈やのに突然ギタリストになった男子。不思議だよね(笑) けど、そんな彼にとって「ギタリストは神さまから押しつけられた転職」なんかも知れない。うん。

エンジニア速水さんが実は全ての楽器を一本の同じマイクを主軸に録音してた！だとか、ビートルズマニアの僕のためにアビーロード由来の機材を使ってくれたとか。。その辺りのエピソードはまたいずれどこかで、もっと長々。。笑
あ！収録された2曲について触れとかなきゃだ。
「2」は、ぼくが10年前に基盤を創って遺してあった曲だ。10年経った今、あの頃の自分 はどんな気持ちでこんな曲を創ったんだろう？とか想い出し感傷に耽りながら制作に取り組む中で、歌詩も改めて加筆したり、メロディ、編曲も、今のぼくらが「一番ユウテラスだ」と感じるものに仕上げられた。会いたい人にはもう会えないんだって愛しさも切なさも絡み合っての10年越しの今を、純粋に楽しんで貰えたら嬉しいな。うん。
「純愛」は、数年前に めいまる に手伝ってもらいながら創った曲。大切な人、大切な猫たちとお別れした記憶、その頃の感情って今も未だリアルな現在進行形。ぼくにとって「死んだ」は終わりでなく「死んだらまた会える」で。「ちょっと待っててね？ぼくもいつか逝くから」が正しくて。そこの矜持を素直、正直にちゃんと歌で遺しときたかった。アレンジは めいまる と 新加入の上隼人にお願いしたんだ。卒業式みたいな青臭さ、肌触りがすべすべ、時々カサカサ。わざと茶化しながら大切な人と死後の契りを交わすみたいな気持ちで聴いてもらえたら。うんうん。

あと日の丸、風立ちぬ(のCDジャケット)に続いて、めいまるがジャケットの絵を描いたんだ。彼女たちの絵をなくしてはユウテラスは(ぼくの曲は)成り立たないんだ。うん。
2022年の幕開け。宇宙新時代に向かい始めたぼくら。5人と1匹の今がギュッと詰まった 全2曲。天の川に煌めく星々眺めながら、目一杯楽しんでね！←この辺りの文言は上くんが考えてくれた(笑) → もはや令和のジャクソン5だ！ポウ！コンチキショー！...と！ゆう訳で。
まさに青春。
まだまだ生きて生きてやろうぜぃ。うぇへへ。

UTERUS recording uses Pro Tools (digital recording software), but it is an organic and analog recording method that is almost the same as the Beatles era.

Engineer Hayami-san and I created the blueprints, and Ma-chan (Masakazu Hara) has been supervising them for a long time, but I'm too stubbornly obsessed with it. Mei-Maru, Hayato Kami, and Sister Abe throw in ideas to the base (laughs), and the wonderful (!?) Teamwork of 5 people and 1 has matured moderately.
I think that these two songs are the beginning of our second movement, and you can fully experience the results.

With my selfish hope, Ma-chan played "2" based on the "Korezo Ma-chan!" Bass style cultivated in the band apart.

Mei-Maru is playing the electric piano that first appeared on UTERUS, but they are actually electric piano masters.
UTERUS's classic, parallel running harmony with me, I reconfirmed that they have a distinctive voice, and that hymns like hymns are due to their performance and harmony.
I was so surprised that sister (Kaori Abe) of Durms decided on one take, but her chin came off, but Hayami-san said, "getting better.

"2" is a song that I left behind when I created the foundation 10 years ago.
Now, 10 years later, how did you feel when you made this song? While working on the production while indulging in memories and sentiment, the songs and poems were rewritten, and the melody and arrangement were finished to what we now feel "the most UTERUS.
It's been 10 years since I couldn't meet the person I wanted to meet anymore, and I'm glad if you can enjoy it purely. Yes.
"Pure love" is a song I wrote a few years ago with the help of Mei-Maru.
The memory of farewell to important people and important cats, and the emotions of those days are still real and ongoing.
For me, "dead" is not the end, but "when I die, I can meet again". "Wait a minute? I'll be gone someday" is correct.
I wanted to leave that pride in a song honestly and honestly.
